To all my dear friends in the UK - I'm coming!

Firstly I do trust that you understood that my "Woolly Mammoth" theory was just a far-fetched construct that was really a metaphor for: "Please warm up I'm coming over!" I'd hate to knock on your door and be told to go away 'cos you don't love me any more!

As I write this I'm on the overnight Stena Line Britannica Ferry sailing towards Harwich. The captain has advised that we have perfect weather.

I have a little sense of grief as my tour of the European continent is now over and therefore the first third of my whole tour is over. My next two sections are the UK, coming up, and then after May 17th I'm in the States.

As a traveller I just love thinking about what I've done over the past 36 hours!
Departed Valencia 13:00 yesterday, 9th April. Arrived at the Spanish border at 17.00. Departed two hours later on an overnight sleeper to Paris. Got to Paris this morning, 10th April, at 07:30 . Then I had to navigate the Paris Underground Railway to get from one Railway Station to another. (Didn't like all the stairs with my luggage load!) Departed Paris at 10:30 for Amsterdam and arrived at 14:40. (All first class for each section - meals, wine etc- on the incredibly good deal you get with a Eurail Pass.) On arrival in Amsterdam I rediscovered my bike, loaded it up and found the local train for the 90 minute trip to the Ferry Terminal. All went well with a few quiet chuckles to myself as I dealt with some interesting minor challenges.
Now here I am with a great cabin, having had a much needed refreshing shower etc and enjoying the gentle effects of another serve of great food - and this time I'll say - beverage! Another plus is that I gain an hour, so the unpleasant 05:30 for breakfast is really at 06:30!

By arriving in Harwich early tomorrow I've got the whole day to get my bearings, travel around 50 kilometres, locate accommodation and enjoy the re-introduction to cycling after a three week break. From now on its travel by bike! With three weeks and a few stops along the way I should easily make my next destination - Helensburgh, Scotland.
I will also have to get used to being immersed in a culture that speaks English! Actually, that won't be too hard!
