Hello Netherlands - goodbye Germany!

I'm still without a USB drive to upload some great photos of the ride from Berlin. After experiencing snow and a windchill factor of minus six degrees celcius I decided not to cross the Baltic Sea to Denmark. On the train/s to Amsterdam I jumped and here I am for Easter.

(Brian and Mary, neighbours in Cairns, believe that my ride is really all by train with stops here and there to take photos of me with bike near well known tourist spots! The way the weather has been their scepticism has actually nearly been the reality! I miss our good natured aussie humour).

Strange how sometimes the simplest things you find significant. Here's an example: As I ride along the cycle paths I've been getting quite excited when I see trees in bud - or even better - beginning to set leaves. You see its been so cold that I've allowed myself to imagine that this process will herald spring SUNSHINE and WARMTH! Apparently spring hits this part of the world on April 1st. I have been advised by all the locals that this year is unseasonally cold and wet. Thank goodness I'm well equipped with thermals etc both for wearing and tent/sleeping
