I have to say that my tour so far has been filled with heaps of new/challenging/different/exciting experiences! It truly has turned out to be an Adventure. An adventure where, although armed with an overall plan, one has to understand that it will be necessary to make decisions in reponse to all kinds of influences that then lead to new directions. This is how its been for me and I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm just enthralled by all that there is to do in Europe.
One interesting experience has been the personal struggle with communication. I have wanted often to engage in conversation with obviously interesting people but have been unable to do so as neither party has knowledge of the other's language. Also, finding myself in a non-english speaking part of the world leads to a sense akin to claustrophobia. Not in a negative way as its understandable, but just to cope with the urge to be understood. At times I've talked to myself, - possibly just to hear spoken english, or as some of my mates would assert - it simply proves I am mad!
I think I will make an effort to learn a European language before any further tours in the future both for my own benefit and out of respect for the locals.
I am looking forward to the UK leg of my tour towards the end of April and later in mid-May my trip to the USA. I have some great people to meet and I know it will be WARMER! (I think my body has even forgotten how to sweat! - its been so cold.)
