Just an update. Just as in Spain where the food was wonderful France's claim to fame for me has been its beautiful scenery. Unfortunately the touch of Arctic weather in southern France has sent me North where strangely its warmer! Again the group of one does make decision making easier!

I peddalled the canal du Midi but given the weather and the subsequent wet and slippery conditions I thought I would find another beautiful part of Europe! I began to have visions of me slowly sinking into the freezing Canal with bike, panniers and no one around to assist! So I thought why not jump on the TGV and night train and explore Germany and The Netherlands? Both countries have so much to offer and share reputations as the most cycling friendly nations in Europe.

I must acknowlede the courage of Laura, Anne, and Michaela who as young, attractive German business women were brave enough to endure my company in a 4 berth
overnight sleeper, couchette, last night. Their politeness extended to them stressing that they did not even hear me snore! (They can teach our Ozzie girls a thing or two about a man´s ego!) Photos next entry.
